Biomechanical Medicine
Biomechanical medicine is a relatively new field that aims to optimise an animal’s musculoskeletal health and performance using advanced chiropractic, osteopathic and soft tissue techniques. Dr Jo has completed the two year Post Graduate Diploma in Animal Biomechanical Medicine which is only available to qualified veterinarians, human chiropractors and human osteopaths.
At Ovens Valley Equine, we offer biomechanical medicine consultations which focuses on the whole body looking for areas of biomechanical dysfunction. After a comprehensive assessment, Dr Jo will use manual (chiropractic, osteopathic) and physical (dry needling) modalities to restore, improve or maintain biomechanical function and performance. If further investigation is required (eg nerve blocks, radiographs or ultrasound), we can offer these services on-site.
Dr Jo is passionate about the role of hoof balance and its direct relationship with myofascial connections through the body. We work closely with experienced hoof care professionals as part of our holistic approach to maintaining your horse’s health and performance.
